We are happy to announce the NTCA award winners for 2019 at 2019 NTCA Awards

Sadly, we will not be able to honor the winners in public due to the COVID crisis. But, we will include them in our recognition booklet in 2021. Winners will receive their NTCA medals in the mail.

I would like to bring your attention to some changes in this year’s awards. First, the name of the award presented to the top member-owned agility team is changed from the Double Q Plus award to the Superstar Savvy Award. This has been done to honor AGCH MACH12 PACH Breakaway’s In The Know CD BN RN MXC3 PDS MJB4 PJS MXP3 MXPB MJPB PAX FTC1 MFC TQX T2B5 RATN. “Savvy” bred and owned by Rainee Johnson DVM, earned her first MACH at 4 years old and her 12th MACH at 11 years old. In July 2017 Savvy became the first Norwich to achieve an Agility Grand Championship as well as becoming the first in the Terrier Group to earn that title.

In keeping with the AKC’s recognition of top dogs in performance/companion venues, we are now presenting an award for the top Norwich in Rally. At the recommendation of the Performance Committee, the award for top Norwich in Rally has been named the Let the Good Times Roll award in honor of RACH Breakaway Bon Temps Roullez CDX PCDX RM3 RAE3 AXP AJP NFP RATN CGC TKP. “Zee”, owned by Jill Lowry and bred by Rainee Johnson DVM & Carol Schrweide, is the first Norwich to achieve a Rally Championship.

The first Rough Rider Working Terrier Achievement Awards have been awarded to two Norwich for 2019 – CH Denwich The Lion-Hearted ME EE2 RATO, owned and bred by Denise & Dana Faulkner and Amblegreen Notti Marietta CDX PCDX BN GO RE ME EE4 RATN CGC, owned by Jill Petersen & Elizabeth Pearson & Heather Tomlins and bred by Heather Tomlins. The Rough Rider awards honors our Norwich’s achievements in either earthdog or barn hunt competition.

2019 is the inaugural year to recognize our top owner-handled Norwich, congratulations to GCHB CH Camio’s Charred Oak, “Robert” and his owner-handler Catherine Rogers. Robert was bred by Catherine Rogers & Elizabeth Fujikawa and he was ranked the #1 Norwich in the AKC National
Owner-Handled Series for 2019.

Congratulations to our top dog and bitch in conformation, GCHP CH Roserock’s My Eyes Adored You and GCHB CH Country Girl Kiss Me Lola.

It is interesting to note that in 2019 we had an increase in the number of member-owned Champions coming out of the Bred-By class (18) and an increase in Register of Merit awards (4).

The Register of Merit program was established by the NNTC in 1994 to honor member-owned Norwich that have produced a specified number of AKC champion offspring (sires 8, dams 5). Congratulations to GCHP CH Dancy’s Rough Rider CGC TKN ROM, GCHS CH Miller’s Wonderful Walter of Thistledew ROM, Littlefield Continental Divine ROM, and CH Panzanella Degli Acquisti Per Littlefield ROM.

If you are interested in specific information regarding the awards presented, please go to our Policy Manual which may be found on the NTCA website in the Members Only section under the “Governance Documents” tab.

If you are interested in seeing all titles earned, that information is also on the NTCA website, in the Members Only section, “AKC Titles Earned by Norwich Terriers”.

Congratulations to all our award and new title winners.

Sincerely,
Judy Laffey
