John Paul Jones Award (Norwich Dog)

This award is named in honor of influential prick ear sire CH John Paul Jones of Groton. John Paul Jones was bred in 1943 by Mrs. John C. Winthrop (later Mrs. A.C. Randolph), and owned by Norwich Terrier Club President (1955-1960) Mr. Alden Blodget and his wife Cornelia Otis Skinner. Blind in one eye from a hunting accident, he won Best of Breed at Westminster in 1946 and was the first post-World War II American-bred champion. He lived to the ripe old age of 18.

High Rising Award (Norwich Bitch)

This award is named in honor of early American prick ear breeders, Mrs. Grant Dickson Green and his wife Betty, of High Rising Kennels. Their many great homebred champions were influential in the breed both in the USA and abroad (England and Canada). A notable dam was their outstanding CH High Rising Hardy Perennial, twice Best in Show at early Norwich Club specialties.

Register of Merit (ROM)

The Register of Merit (ROM) program was established by the NNTC in 1994 to honor member-owned Norwich that have produced a specified number of AKC champion offspring (sires 8, dams 5). By virtue of their ability to produce high quality offspring, they are likely to have had an impact on the Norwich terrier in the USA. By recognizing the contributions of notable sires and dams, the ROM will be a resource of information for breeders in their quest to produce the exceptional dog envisioned in our standard of excellence.

River Bend Award 

The River Bend Award was established in 1967 by the NTC. It is named in honor of Norwich/Norfolk breeder and obedience enthusiast Sylvia Warren (River Bend). She bred the wonderful Puff (CH Puff CD CDX) whose “personality” led them into obedience training. Awarded to the top NTCA member-owned obedience team based on the most points (based on scores).

Rough Rider Working Terrier Earthdog Award

An award established in 2018 to recognize the NTCA member-owned dog that achieves the highest titles in AKC Earth Dog performance tests, Endurance Earth Dog. This title requires the dog to have the Master ED title as well as passing both a Senior Earth Dog test and the Master Earth Dog test at the same event on five occasions.
